Every year, the Sun makes one complete cycle through the zodiac signs, spending approximately one month in each sign. In astrology, the time the Sun spends traveling through each sign is known as a solar transit or a sun transit, for example, a solar transit through Libra or a Sun transit through Libra.

Even though the Sun is very important in astrology, the effects of solar transits can be quite subtle. We are used to the Sun switching signs in a regular pattern through the year, and if you’re not paying astrological attention, the effects are not necessarily all that noticeable most of the time. You’re most likely to notice the effects of a solar transit through your own sign, your opposite sign, or signs which share the same element – earth, air, water or fire – as your own sign.

In astrology, the Sun represents our ego, our life force, our vitality, our pride, and our health. When the Sun transits Libra from September 22nd until October 22nd, 2021, all these things are expressed via the qualities of Libra. If you’re not familiar with Libra as a sign, you only have to think of its symbol – the scales – to get an idea of its key points. Libra is above all about balance and harmony. This energy is diplomatic, unassuming, kind, polite and desperate to avoid conflict. Libra Sun transits require us to find win-win solutions to a dilemma and to smile, through gritted teeth if necessary, come what may.

When the Sun transits Libra, you may notice that you feel more sociable than normal, and that the general social vibe in the community is a little bit less jumpy – calmer, more laid back and more tolerant. We often associate Libra’s scales with justice, and indeed this zodiac energy is big on fairness. However, because Librans are so ill at ease with discord, solar transits through Libra can also be a time of least resistance – when many of us will go along with almost anything in order to avoid a row. We may tell people what we think they want to hear, rather than the truth, or we’ll shy away from uncomfortable truths or awkward conversations.

For all of its reluctance get involved in a conflict, Libra is a cardinal sign. It leads and initiates. Because it’s an air sign, Libra leads through ideas and the spoken or written word – often through gentle persuasion rather than force, but it’s leadership, nonetheless. During the Sun in Libra transit, the power of words is strong and must be  respected.

On a very personal level, the Sun’s transit through Libra can be a good time to build bridges and to mend broken relationships, whether in love or in friendship or at work. Keeping an open mind is key, as is the willingness to accept a less than perfect solution for the sake of the greater good.

Horoscopes: What Does the Sun in Libra Transit Mean for Each Zodiac Sign?

Each Sun sign will experience the Sun in Libra transit slightly differently, depending on their natal chart. If you pay attention over the course of several years, you’ll probably notice how your astrological focus and attention tends to shift very gradually through the year – that’s the influence of solar transits.

Sun in Libra for an Aries (Aries dates: March 20 – April 19)

When the Sun transits Libra, it illuminates the love sector in your chart. This is a wonderful period for romance, Aries, but it’s important that you also maintain your own personal independence. Don’t become so entangled in a relationship that you lose your own identity.

Sun in Libra for a Taurus (Taurus dates: April 20 – May 20)

Let the Libra Sun shine its warmth onto your health and vitality. Taking up a new exercise regime would be beneficial now, especially if you can choose something graceful, beautiful or aesthetically pleasing – maybe ballet, tai chi or swimming. Look after your mental health during this period too. It’s a promising time for counseling or talking therapies.

Sun in Libra for a Gemini (Gemini dates: May 21 – June 20)

The Libra Sun Sign embraces the arts and now it’s time for you to embrace your artistic and creative skills too. Designing, making, and crafting of any kind will bring you huge satisfaction during this solar transit. You have a lot to share with others as a mentor and getting your message across in an artistic way is a definite plus for this.

Sun in Libra for a Cancer (Cancer dates: June 21 – July 21)

The Libran solar transit enhances your already very strong connection to home and family. This is an excellent time to restore balance and make peace between warring family members or to move past a family feud for good. Sun in Libra for a Leo (Leo dates: July 22 – August 21)
It’s an exceptionally sociable time for you when the Sun transits Libra and you’ll adore being the center of attention at parties or events. Try to be a way-shower rather than a limelight-grabber.

Sun in Libra for a Virgo (Virgo dates: August 22 – September 21)

The Libra Sun illuminates the money sector in your chart, Virgo, and this is excellent news for your finances. If your work involves words or languages, you can expect good business luck during this period. The solar transit through Libra is a very psychic and spiritual time; watch out for sudden flashes of inspiration and insight which appear to have come from nowhere. You’re being asked now to listen much more carefully to your gut instincts or your own higher guidance. Don’t try to rationalize your feelings, Scorpio, simply acknowledge and act on them.

Sun in Libra for a Sagittarius (Sagittarius dates: November 22 – December 20)

The Sun in Libra transit brings out your sociable side and you’ll want to spend as much time as possible mixing and mingling with others, whether at work or for fun. It’s a good time for business networking and for making new contacts, although take care to be sincere about your intentions. Don’t use people simply for the access they can provide.

Sun in Libra for a Capricorn (Capricorn dates: December 21 – January 18)

The Sun’s transit through your fellow cardinal sign Libra ignites your ambition in your career and working life. You’re very conscious of your social status during this period and must take care not to become too prideful or arrogant. Sun in Libra for an Aquarius (Aquarius dates: January 19 – February 17)

This is a very intellectual feeling solar transit, Aquarius, with an emphasis firmly on ideas, learning and development. While the Sun transits Libra, it’s a great time to take a course, start on a new certification pathway or go back to school. Travel is highlighted now too, especially to countries where you feel an emotional bond.

Sun in Libra for a Pisces (Pisces dates: February 18 – March 19)

The Libra Sun transit prompts you to think about how fairly you have been treated in life – and how fairly you have treated others. This is a time for forgiveness and understanding, Pisces, not for recriminations. Take the first step towards letting go of past hurts. Learning more about meditation or acceptance will help you get to a point where you can let go.
